Burgundy Wine and Charcoal Gray Wedding Invitation Suite

I had a recent custom color request to change one of my designs to use burgundy instead of navy blue with one of my gray and white damask wedding invitations. That led me to do some searches online for burgundy and grey wedding color schemes, which led to me falling in love with those colors for a wedding, especially a late summer, fall or winter wedding.

I think the deep burgundy wine color, paired with charcoal grey and white is such a clean and crisp, sophisticated look with lots of good kind of drama. I love the look of the sharkskin gray men’s suits with burgundy ties and of course, argyle socks in burgundy and gray. I’ve even seen the groomsmen in burgundy suits with the bridesmaids in dark pewter grey bridesmaids dresses with burgundy floral bouquets and that looks great, too.

I designed this new burgundy wine and charcoal grey wedding invitation suite with modern elegance and sophistication in mind. The design uses a dark grey and white damask pattern that is always in style for a wedding. The main feature is the PRINTED ON deep burgundy wine ribbon and bow that sits near the bottom of the wedding invitation, or near the top of the mini calendar save the date card. There is a romantic simulated (printed on) burgundy glitter and jewel joined hearts accent in the middle of the bow. The area below the ribbon is a dark charcoal gray with white script writing that says: “This day, I will marry my best friend, the one I live for, laugh with, dream with, love”. The wording can say whatever you want as long as it will fit in the space. The main wording area is white with the wedding details printed in gray and burgundy. I’ve also added four burgundy corner flourishes and a small scroll divider to add a bit more oomph to the design.

Some people may also call the shade of burgundy I’ve used marsala, but that is more to do with Marsala wine than with the Pantone color of the year for 2015 also called Marsala, but which is more of a coppery brown shade than what I would call burgundy.

I’ve carried the printed on ribbon around to the backs of the invitation, RSVP card and Save the Date card because I like how that looks. I’m happy to add any additional wording to the backs of any of the pieces of this wedding suite, and a photo could also be added to the back of the invitation or the mini calendar save the date card if you would like to have that.

I came across a great DIY centerpiece tutorial for a pretty elegant looking burgundy floral centerpiece. I would look for planters that were the shape and size I wanted and then if they weren’t a nice silver or pewter already, I would spray paint them to go with my theme. So simple and yet so stylish!

One of the other great things about using burgundy in your wedding is how many shades of burgundy, maroon, and marsala there are that all work together, and they all look so great with shades of silver and grey. Succulents also look gorgeous with burgundy shades too, so adding them to centerpieces and bouquets can warm things up a bit if you find the burgundy and gray wedding color theme a bit on the cool side. Personally, I think it has such a contemporary, sophisticated look that it would work for many different weddings and budgets.

Sunflower Royal Blue Burlap Wood Wedding Invitation Set

I’m always amazed to see how many people purchase their autumn or fall wedding invitation stationery early in the New year. This year I have noticed a lot of people purchasing invitations with a royal blue and yellow color scheme so that inspired me to design a new rustic burlap and wood wedding design that features a royal or cobalt blue ribbon image with a bright yellow sunflower.

I decided to try to design something that uses a brighter shade of royal blue paired with a pretty yellow sunflower. Rustic weddings are still going strong and I think as long as there are barn wedding venues and simple outdoor settings that someone will always veer towards the warm and carefree feeling that sunflowers exude. I think the cobalt blue or royal blue and yellow sunflowers wedding theme is so perfect for a late summer or early fall wedding. There is just something about those dog days of summer that makes me think of sunflowers and hay and all things country. So, for anyone not quite sure if they want to go full-on autumn wedding with all the fall leaves and darker colors, this color scheme may be more to your liking. Even if you end up getting married on an overcast day, the bright yellow and blue will keep things lively and sunny looking.

The other things I like about a rustic burlap and sunflower wedding is the affordability of it. There are so many ways to save money on this sort of theme and you don’t need to be very handy to pull it off and still have things look like it was all professionally designed. With a little pre-planning, you could easily take care of most of the flowers and centerpieces yourself by planting your own sunflowers or asking someone you know if they would plant some for you to use. That would certainly cut down on a large part of the flower and bouquet budget. With this rustic sunflower wedding theme, I think the more casual and easy-going things look, the better. So throw some sunflowers and baby’s breath in a mason jar, wrap a royal blue ribbon around the neck, tie a small wood heart to it that has “Fall in Love” written on it, and there you have some awesome and affordable centerpieces that match your wedding theme. Same with the bouquets and boutonnieres: some sunflowers, a few accent flowers in blue, white, or cream, a bit of royal blue ribbon, twine, or burlap ribbon, and you’ll all look amazing.

I also think that burlap goes perfectly well with sunflowers and the whole rustic look. It is also very affordable to purchase for use on your decor, favors, and anywhere you need a little rustic charm, like over your cake table, over an old barrel that holds your favors, or as a table runner on your reception tables. I wanted to use the simulated burlap pattern with a warm wood pattern that brought out the brown tones in the center of the large yellow sunflower image I used. I think the bright royal blue ribbon contrasts nicely against the browns and yellow. The look was completed using a painted golden yellow wood-look heart with the words “Fall in Love” printed on in brown in a modern calligraphy type font. Even with a rustic design, I always feel compelled to bring in a bit of elegance to the wedding design, so for this one, I used an ornate brown scrolled frame on the back side to surround the wedding invitation wording. The wording is a mix of brown and bright blue and there is another sunflower image at the top and a decorative ornament that breaks up the main wording from the reception information.

Where I live on Canada’s east coast, we have had a very long, mild autumn, so the vivid fall colors have been outside my office window for an extended period of time, which is great because I do love the fall. I love it for lots of reasons, but most of all because it’s when I have the most time to create new designs.

With all the rich autumn colors, I felt like working on a new wedding suite that was rich in deep colors like burgundy, aubergine purple, marsala red, rust, olive green etc. I’ve been seeing so many gorgeous fall wedding bouquets that use those colors that I wanted to design something that had enough colors in it that the wedding color theme could have a variety of colors and warm tones in it instead of just one or two. I like how white contrasts with the deep colors, but I also wanted to make sure there was enough warmth to the suite so I added in a creamy butter yellow / ivory border with decorative simulated gold foil to make accessorizing the attendants and reception decor easy.

I’ve also seen the burgundy paired with silver and jade greens but I find them colder looking, which might suit a late fall wedding, but I wanted this set to be suitable for any season. I think the bold watercolor floral pattern is classic and sophisticated. With the mix of assorted purple, orange, and brown feathers, you can also lean towards a more Bohemian wedding theme if you wanted to go with a more wildflower and feather look.

This great burgundy watercolor florals wedding invitation suite can be dressed up or dressed down depending on your taste and budget. Pull out all the stops and go full-on gold glamour with towering centerpieces filled with ivory, burgundy, aubergine, and red roses or peonies with feathers and greenery cascading down from them, or go with something looser like a wildflower bouquet with simple pops of burgundy and a gold ribbon.

You can choose soft and romantic bridesmaid dresses in pale yellow and then pick up the burgundy colors in their bouquets or do mix and match bridesmaid dresses in the various colors from the invitation. It is such a versatile invitation suite that you can really get creative with your wedding attendants attire, church and venue decorations, flowers, and even the cake. Add more or less gold, depending on how warm or glitzy you want things to look. I know I would have an absolute ball planning a wedding based on this burgundy floral wedding suite. There are so many possible wedding themes to choose from that it’s hard to pick a favorite. Narrowing down the wedding date to a season can certainly help in your decision. In this post, I will be featuring a design for the autumn season – a rustic fall wedding invitation set.

Rustic weddings continue to be very popular and one of the easiest ways to get the rustic look is to incorporate burlap in your wedding stationery and decor. You won’t have to look very hard online to find everything you could possibly ever want to buy or DIY to create your perfect rustic fall wedding.

The obvious color choices for an autumn wedding include the rich fall colors of the changing leaves, like burnt orange, red, rust, gold, yellow, and brown. I chose a deep burgundy wine color for this rustic burlap wedding invitation and matching items because so many other fall colors pair so well with it. It is a great color for use with the wedding party attire, the centerpieces and bouquets, and the decor.

I created this rustic burlap and fall leaves wedding suite using a simulated brown burlap texture with a simulated aged paper overlay with burnt edges. The printed on wine colored ribbon takes all the fuss out of having to wrap and tie ribbons on yourself and it also allows you to have the look of embellished wedding invitations without the big price tag.

I added another printed on golden yellow twine bow and images of assorted dried leaves in rich fall colors of red, orange, gold, and rust.

The front of the burlap and leaves autumn wedding invitation has the popular verse “This day I will marry my best friend, the one I laugh with, live for, dream with, love” on it, but that can be changed to have a Bible verse or the names of the couple, or “Fall in Love”, or whatever you would like there. The back of the rustic fall wedding invitation has ample room to add on the reception details and RSVP info too, making this a very affordable design to use for your rustic autumn wedding. Use the money you save from buying extra wedding inserts to upgrade to felt paper for a lovely texture that works great with the burlap look!

Just in case you want to mail out a wedding stationery package with multiple enclosure cards, I created several different sized cards that you can use for RSVP, accommodations, directions etc. There are also matching address labels that you can use to dress up the envelopes with.

Rustic Autumn Maple Leaves Fall in Love Photo Wedding Invitation

Now that it’s summer, fall wedding planning is in full swing! Fall weddings are wonderful! I love the color and the decor. I just posted these rustic autumn maple leaves, burlap and wood plank “fall in love” photo wedding invitation designs. This rustic autumn photo wedding invitation design is perfect for a shabby chic, casual rustic or country fall wedding! This design would be a great choice for a wedding in a cottage, barn, farm, or a wedding outdoors.

This rustic autumn leaves photo wedding invitation design features a rustic wood plank or barn wood background with a weathered whitewash wood photo frame on the front. It also features a strip of simulated brown burlap behind the frame with brunt orange, gold and red autumn maple leaves and a cardboard heart with the words “fall in love”. The maple leaves and heart are “attached” in the design with a burnt orange bow. Completing the look on the front is your first names and engagement photo in the photo frame. Note, this is all a flat printed design. There are no actual 3D embellishments, but the design is made to appear 3D.

On the back of the invitation, your fall wedding details are displayed in a whimsical, modern calligraphy font.

Because the front of this “fall in love” wedding invitation design contains your photo and names only, it makes for an especially nice keepsake for your guests.

There are two color versions available with this fall maple leaves wedding invitation. One where the barn wood or rustic wood plank background is red and the other where the background is blue.
